What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Technical Manager will include:

Maritime Electronic Warfare System Integrated Capability (MEWSIC) is part of the Authority's wider Maritime Electronic Warfare Programme (MEWP). The MEWP capability will deliver digital SENSOR warning sensors (ES) across the full threat spectrum, together with an Electronic Warfare Command and Control (EWC2) system able to assist in warfighting decision making and a modernised suite of Electronic Warfare Countermeasures (EWCM).

MEWSIC is comprised of an Electronic Surveillance (ES) solution and a complementary Electronic Warfare Command and Control (EWC2) capability. Electronic Surveillance (ES) contains the RF emissions detection, identification and track management component of the MEWP capability. EWCM will provide the electronic counter measure components (chaff, flare, jamming capabilities etc) for platform Self Defence (SD). EWCM is commanded and controlled by the EWC2 capability based upon intelligence led EW operator assessment of track information supplied by the ES components and other combat system information sources.

What experience you need to be the successful Technical Manager:

(1) Manage Electronic Warfare Technology Strategy and Technology Roadmaps for the MEWP programmes.

(2) Scope and generate Technical and Technology specifications within delivery Statements of Works across MEWP programmes.

(3) Engage in Contractor Design and Development activities, manage Interface Control documentation, Service Definitions and Ships Combat System Integration issues to ensure compliance of suppliers with relevant Statements of Work(s).

(4) Execution of a Tender down-selection activities based upon the technical deliverables produced by industrial teams.

(5) Develop System Architectures and Requirement definition documents for EW programmes.

(6) Promote Open systems standards and act as an active member of the MEWP Design Authority

(7) Assist with the production, acceptance and resultant configuration control of an requirements acceptance procedure (Verification, Validation Requirements Matrix (VVRM) created by industry in accordance with an agreed Integrated Trials Evaluation & Acceptance Plan (ITEAP)

(8) Monitor, manage and report technology and technical risk on the MEWP projects.

(9) Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to manage staff.

(10) Challenge technical assumptions to identify improvement opportunities.

(11) Demonstrate creative and innovative thinking to find solutions to technical challenges
