UI Engineer

UI Engineer needed for an employee benefits provider based in Basingstoke who are looking to employ an experienced Developer to build strategically important enterprise applications, within an Agile environment.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop the UI's for the company's applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and delivering quality products is essential.

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the UI Engineer will include:

  • Working closely with project team and the UX team to Develop applications in OutSystems, or other UI platforms, based on provided wireframes
  • Translate user stories into functional applications, using Agile practices
  • Provide the Sprint Demos and maintain user stories
  • Build and maintain quality, efficient, reusable, scalable, reliable and performant code
  • Follow best practice standards, quality measures and metrics
  • Identify initiatives and innovations
  • Implementation of automation techniques to measure and deliver quality to raise standards, through using DevOps practices
  • Contribute towards initiatives and outcomes to streamline delivery, through CI/CD pipelines
  • Provide strong technical competencies
  • Deliver value-add type outcomes in all activities
  • Demonstrate good Agile behaviours

What you need to be the successful UI Engineer:

In order to be the successful UI Engineer and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:

  • Ideally have proven experience in OutSystems or other low code platforms such as Mendix or K2 Smartforms, and web based technologies
  • Experience in integrating OutSystems or other low code platform with SOAP/REST web services, databases and underlying systems.
  • Solid knowledge of software development (.NET or Java)
  • Good knowledge and experience of implementing cloud based solutions
  • Good understanding of object-oriented programming and principles
  • Experience of automation techniques to measure and deliver quality, raising standards (Code Analysis, SonarQube, Resharper)
  • Experience of using automated testing platforms and automated unit tests (TDD/BDD)
  • Knowledge or experience of implementation specifics of CI/CD pipelines using DevOps practices
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns and principles
  • Experience of working in Agile and full understanding of the methodology
  • Excellent communication skills
