Acoustics Engineer

Salary: £DOE + Package

As an Acoustics Engineer you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge sonar systems for maritime defence. As a key member of a dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in the analysis, modelling, and development of sonar systems, contributing to the advancement of naval capabilities.

What the role entails for the Acoustics Engineer?

  • Utilize established methodologies to conduct an in-depth analysis of sonar systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the system design team to develop appropriate models and analyses that align with customer requirements.
  • Performance across a wide range of realistic underwater conditions.
  • Evaluation of sonar performance and inclusion in bid responses based on customer requirements.
  • Analyse performance impacts of Sonar System Design decisions using modelling and simulation, effectively quantifying their impact.
  • Provide assistance in the conduct of sea trials.
  • Analyze trial data and compare it to the performance requirements of the system.
  • Report on the results of the trial data analysis, drawing clear conclusions regarding the success of the trial and the performance of the sonar system in comparison to the requirements of the trial.

Required experience for the Acoustics Engineer?

Education:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree (higher degree preferred) in Physics, Mathematics, or another STEM field.

Commercial Experience:

  • Commercial experience in operational analysis, trials data analysis, performance prediction modeling, and performance requirement interpretation within the sonar or similar domain.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, conveying complex topics clearly to both expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Proficiency in mathematical and scientific modeling tools, such as MATLAB.
  • Proven ability to set and meet deadlines effectively.

Security Clearance:

  • Existing or attainable Security Clearance (SC).
