Brief

Buyer needed for a leading engineering firm based in the Rochester.

What the role of the Buyer entails:

Some of the main duties of the Buyer will include:

• Receiving requisitions and demands, negotiate with suppliers and process Purchase Orders, Purchase Order Amendments and/or Purchase Agreements
• Negotiating Terms and Conditions, Price Agreements and other contractual documents with suppliers
• Maintaining strong, effective relationships with suppliers and be able to resolve relationship and performance issue
• Understanding the budget requirements for the Purchase Orders, identify opportunities for cost reduction/avoidance through effective negotiation
• Understanding and communicating key performance indicators for suppliers and be able to engage with and address issues at a senior level within the supplier organisation
• Maintain Supplier open order books and ensure that correct and current data is maintained in the Oracle ERP system
• Understand and support the implementation of corporate Procurement processes (Strategic Supplier Management, Sub-Contract Management, and Commodity Management)
• Train/coach junior members of staff on Procurement processes and procedures and support audits of these, including supporting the implementation of improvement plans
• Act as an independent interface between suppliers and the project teams, demonstrating effective relationship management skills

What experience you need to be the successful Buyer:

Essential:

• Proven experience in buying/procurement/purchasing
• Prior experience in leading negotiations and Supplier Relationship Management
• Manufacturing background would be preferable

Desirable:

• HNC/HND in Business Studies or equivalent experience
• MCIPS Qualified or Equivalent experience
• Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle

In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that require you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.
