An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering a growing number of high value, prestigious building projects across Edinburgh. The Commercial Manager will be supporting a site based team and given the opportunity to put their own mark on the project whilst developing others and being given the opportunity to quickly progress their own career.

The Commercial Manager will be based on site and overseeing the day to day commercial management of complex building projects with contract sums of between £50m and £120m. These projects are for a wide variety of clients within the education, residential, commercial and leisure sectors. Some of your key duties will include:

• Managing and overseeing a number of commercial activities including procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations, sub contract management and final account negotiations
• You'll be heavily involved with ensuring the businesses commercial risks are minimal and that they can maximise value by cost checking and undertaking analysis of all labour, plant and materials contracts
• Supporting junior surveyors on the project with the development of their own careers by acting as a mentor and also offering commercial advice and guidance to the wider project team

Commercial Manager's considering this opportunity will need to have previously worked for a leading main contractor on building projects with values of more than £30m. You'll need to be commercially astute with good cost reporting skills and confident when working with diverse teams at all stages of a major project. You'll also need to have a degree in Quantity Surveying or other related field.
