Job Title: Commercial Manager
Location: Ashford/Maidstone Area, Kent
Salary: £85,000 to £90,000 + package
We are working with a leading infrastructure contractor and they are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team in delivering a £25m framework to a major motorway in the South East corner of Kent. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continued development of a small team, commercial performance, value for money, and risk management across the project.
Some of the Commercial Manager's key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the commercial performance of the project, including budget management, forecasting, and reporting
- Ensure all financial processes are followed and all data is accurate
- Manage and mentor the commercial team and support staff, ensuring that the team works effectively to deliver project goals
- Ensure that all commercial decisions are made in the best interest of the project and in line with company policies
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities within the project, and provide commercial input to support decision-making
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Work closely with the project team to ensure that all contractual requirements are met and that disputes are resolved promptly
- Assist in the preparation of tender submissions, proposals, and other commercial documents
- Keep up to date with industry developments and trends, and implement best practice commercial strategies across the project
Commercial Managers considering this opportunity will need to meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
- Proven track record of successful commercial management on infrastructure projects
- Experience managing and mentoring teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of the construction industry and relevant contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Full driving license
