Job Title: Commercial Manager
Location: Projects in Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire & Herefordshire
Salary: £85,000 to £105,000 + package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering both private & public sector projects across the East & West Midlands. The Commercial Manager will be joining my clients growing construction business and working closely with the Commercial leadership team, taking responsibility for the sound commercial & financial management of projects in Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire & Herefordshire. Your role will include the management of a small portfolio of projects where you'll be supporting the teams with all matters from procurement and tenderingt through to programme management, dispute resolution and settlement of the final accounts.

Some of the Commercial Managers key duties will include:

• Lead the commercial function, ensuring effective management of all commercial activities related to the project.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies, systems, and processes to maximize project profitability and minimize risk.
• Manage contractual agreements, variations, and claims, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Provide accurate cost forecasting, cost control, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Oversee procurement activities, including tendering, negotiation, and contract award processes.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, to maintain strong working relationships and resolve commercial issues.
• Monitor project progress and financial performance, reporting on key metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Provide commercial guidance and support to the project team, ensuring compliance with commercial policies and procedures.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, applying this knowledge to enhance project outcomes.

Commercial Managers considering this opportunity will need the following experience and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager on UK based building projects. This could include new build or refurbishments with values of >£10m
• In-depth knowledge of the UK's construction industry including contractual frameworks, regulations and best practices
• Strong commercial acumen
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills
