Data Engineer required by a highly reputable Defence organisation, to be based Chelmsford. The Data Engineer will possess demonstratable skills within all areas of data cleansing and utilise their extensive experience of Microsoft Office, importing, sorting, filtering, comparing and manipulating data to support all areas of the business. You will also have a responsibility to assist the Engineering department in mitigating and avoiding obsolescence, and raising awareness of good design practice, and amending existing material masters as requested.

Please note that eligibility for UK security clearance up to SC level is required for the Data Engineer position.

Some of the main duties of the Data Engineer will include:

• Creation of new engineering material masters into the SAP ERP system.
• Creation and maintenance of material hazard information in SAP with assistance of company chemists
• Cleansing of data such as part description and manufacture part numbers material masters.
• Extending material masters to plants allowing purchasing and manufacturing to proceed
• Gathering and processing obsolescence data for projects under support contracts
• Delivering accurate material masters in a timely function for use of engineers in designs
• Provide SAP assistance to all areas of MS business unit including but not limited to SAP table extracts and SAP role administration

What experience you need to be the successful Data Engineer:

• Engineering based HNC or higher
• EngTech or equivalent, or approaching that status
• Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience
• Data cleansing skills
• Experience with SAP or ERP
