Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week

Brief

Electrical Engineer is needed by a large sustainable energy organisation based in London who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded individual that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical and fuel handling.

The successful candidate would need a NVQ L3 or equivalent in an electrical field or equivalent. An individual with experience working in a sustainable energy setting would be a plus!

What the role entails:

  • Carry out the scheduled preventive maintenance programme for all electrical plants and systems.
  • Respond to and resolve electrical faults, alarms, and breakdowns.
  • Conduct minor installations and upgrades in line with system design and standards.
  • Proactively monitor electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain clear and thorough maintenance records and close out all work orders promptly.
  • Support operational performance through reliable electrical systems and timely fault rectification.
  • Perform regular inspections and testing of electrical installations and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant IEE wiring regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Provide support to multi-disciplinary teams during system upgrades and modifications.
  • Provide cover for shift roster gaps and participate in on-call rotation (where required).
  • Collaborate effectively with the site team, demonstrating professionalism in all client interactions.
  • Be willing to assist at other sites when requested.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of operational procedures and contract specifics.
  • Work in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations and Bring energy safety policies.
  • Apply lock-out/tag-out procedures and Permit to Work systems.
  • Ensure personal and always team compliance with Health & Safety practices.
  • Contribute to and produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Complete maintenance logs, inspection reports, and incident documentation accurately.
  • Use IT systems to support diagnostics, reporting, and communication.
  • Escalate faults or safety concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members and site leadership.

What experience you need to be the successful Electrical Engineer:

  • NVQ Level 3 in an Electrical or Mechanical Field.
  • 18th Edition
  • Experience with fault finding inspection and testing.
  • Competence in safe isolation procedures and working on live/energised systems where permitted.
  • Understanding of cable types, containment systems, and termination techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and work from electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in testing procedures including insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and loop impedance.
  • Knowledge of three-phase systems, motor starters, control circuits, and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Application of Health and Safety practices in high-risk industrial environments.
  • Use of test equipment (e.g., multifunction testers, clamp meters, insulation testers).
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Effective communication and team collaboration.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage workload independently.
