Engineering Manager (Electrical)

Defence engineering organisation delivering complex maritime and mission-critical systems. The work is long-horizon, strategically funded, and central to future capability programmes. This role leads engineering delivery across multi-disciplinary teams on bids, product development and in-service upgrade projects with high technical depth and commercial visibility.
Role Overview
Responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering engineering work-packages. Lead technical solution development, ensure design integrity, manage resource and cost performance, and act as the primary technical interface across internal stakeholders and suppliers. No direct line management; full delivery accountability for engineering scope.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and drive engineering technical solutions, schedules, costs and risks
* Lead design, development, integration, test and acceptance activities
* Ensure compliance with electrical, EMC, CE/UKCA and relevant safety standards
* Produce specifications, bid inputs, technical reports and verification evidence
* Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering effort and resolve technical issues
* Maintain delivery against cost, schedule, quality and risk commitments
* Manage stakeholder relationships and represent engineering in project reviews
Essential Requirements
* Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar discipline
* Proven experience delivering engineered systems within product development lifecycle
* Strong understanding of CE/UKCA directives, EMC compliance and electrical safety
* Hands-on experience leading engineering design activities through to acceptance
* Ability to plan, cost and manage engineering work packages
Desirable
* Experience in maritime, defence or safety-critical engineering environments
* Systems Engineering lifecycle and requirements verification experience
* Bid support, technical proposal development and supplier/integrator exposure
* Chartered or working toward professional registration
