The Role:

So, what will you be doing as an Embedded Software Controls Engineer?

• Be the embedded controls expert within a multidisciplinary team.
• Design and develop control strategies for electrical power systems.
• Program and optimise embedded software on DSPs/microcontrollers (C/C++).
• Prototype and test your designs in real-world applications.
• Work closely with systems and electronic engineers to deliver robust solutions.
• Define and manage system interfaces and customer requirements.
• Support product qualification, verification, and compliance testing.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
• Champion reusability and design standardisation across projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.

What are we looking for in our next Embedded Software Controls Engineer?

• Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Software, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven track record of delivering embedded software/firmware, ideally within automotive, aerospace, nuclear, or defence sectors.
• Hands-on experience with DSPs and embedded C/C++ for microcontrollers.
• Strong understanding of embedded software within complex systems.
• Agile mindset with the ability to learn quickly and adapt.
• Comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Eligible to obtain UK SC security clearance.
• Experience with power systems and motor control.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion).
• Exposure to Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Jira).
• System testing and validation experience.
