Fibre Engineer - Jointing & Testing - Rail
National - UK Wide travel and staying away required
Brief
Fibre Engineer and Jointer & Tester needed for a successful rail technology organisation who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Fibre Engineer - Jointing & Testing, needed to carry out fibre cable jointing, testing and installation in the rail environment.

What The Role Entails
Some of the main duties of the Fibre Engineer - Jointing & Testing will include:
- Carry out maintenance activities on fibre cabling, including splicing, testing and jointing
- May be required to lead cable jointing team(s) when carrying out Planned Maintenance works and Surveys
- Be part of callout rota (currently 1 in 3 weeks)
- Responsible for carrying out regular vehicle and equipment checks
- Ensure faults and maintenance activities are documented and reported
- Compile test results, reviewing and providing detailed reports of non-compliance
- Advise of any remedial work required to resolve non-compliance issues
- Generate COSS Briefing sheets for working on or near the line and on a fault
What experience you need to be the successful Fibre Engineer - Jointing & Testing:
- PTS (highly desirable) or NRSWA
- Look Out / COSS-SWL1
- Competent in using a Fibre Splicer & Cleaver
- Fibre Splicing, jointing and testing experience is essential
- Complete test reports and tracing
- Knowledge and experience of various fibre joint installations, within the Rail or similar environment
