Finance Business Partner
SSRO Specialist
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 (DOE)
Location: Bristol preferred (flexible for the right candidate)
Working Pattern: Hybrid (office, client site & home-based working)
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain UK Military-Level Security Clearance
SSRO EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION
Applications without demonstrable, hands-on SSRO (Single Source Regulations Office) experience will not be considered.
The Opportunity
An established UK consultancy operating within the defence and regulated sectors is seeking a Chartered Finance Business Partner with substantial SSRO expertise.
This role sits at the centre of financial compliance, pricing strategy, regulatory reporting and defence contract governance. You will act as the subject matter expert on SSRO regulations, supporting senior stakeholders while ensuring full statutory compliance across single source defence contracts.
This is a high-impact position requiring both technical authority and stakeholder credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial management and reporting for contracts governed by SSRO regulations
Prepare, review and submit statutory SSRO reports (Pricing Statements, Contract Reports, Annual Reports)
Provide expert interpretation of SSRO regulations and cost principles
Act as primary contact for SSRO audits and regulatory inspections
Develop and maintain compliant internal controls aligned to SSRO allowable cost principles
Support bid and negotiation teams with SSRO-compliant pricing and risk strategies
Deliver training and guidance on SSRO updates and compliance obligations
Monitor regulatory changes and implement process improvements accordingly
Essential Requirements
✔ Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
✔ Extensive, demonstrable SSRO regulatory experience within UK defence contracts
✔ Proven experience preparing and submitting SSRO statutory reports
✔ Strong understanding of allowable cost principles and SSRO pricing methodologies
✔ Experience engaging directly with regulatory bodies
✔ Strong stakeholder management skills across finance, commercial and senior leadership
Additional Skills
Experience supporting government procurement activity
Strong analytical capability and regulatory interpretation skills
Excellent communication skills (able to translate complex regulations clearly)
Strong organisational and project management ability
Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must:
Be eligible to obtain and maintain UK National Security Vetting (SC level as a minimum)
