Human Factors Engineer

This Human Factors Engineer position will allow you the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary Human Factors Engineering team that carry out a diverse range of tasks including long-term strategic UK Defence projects, applied studies and also consultancy support for clients.

In this position you will be responsible for the provision and management of Human Factors support in the design of defence information related products and services.
You will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and business development activities with a diverse range of user groups.
This could range from projects supporting design of fighter aircraft; design of interface technologies for the Army; to undertaking cutting edge research as part of the Human Social Sciences Research Group.
The main responsibilities:
Providing and managing Human Factors integration and engineering services to support the design and delivery of defence informaation products and services.
Supporting other project functions as required e.g. safety case development (from an HF perspective)
Supporting research opportunities, conducting analysis and producing Human Factors reports.
Networking with the Human Factors community both internally and externally to raise the profile, awareness and credibility of the team.
Maintaining and developing your own and colleagues' Human Factors and training competencies.
Mentoring junior staff and providing professional development.
Skills, background and qualifications:
Able to acheive UK MIlitary SC Clearance (UK Passport Holder, resident in UK for the last 5 years).

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Human Factors, Ergonomics or Psychology.

Experience of working with other disciplines on large-scale, complex system development and complex integration projects.

Experience of leading Human Factors activities and applying human factors methods in a defence or other high-hazard, safety critical industry.

Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes and the integration of Human Factors activities.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build networks and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
An innovative and confident personality, you will be able to foster a positive team spirit and will be flexible with a positive 'can do' attitude.
