The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Manufacturing Engineer?
- Collaborate with Engineering and Project Team members to review new product designs, advising on Design for Manufacture principles.
- Support prototype builds, identifying and resolving issues before full-scale production.
- Submit detailed Manufacturing plans, including layouts, process maps, cycle times, resourcing levels, tooling, and facility upgrades.
- Lead the New Product Introduction Phase, ensuring quality, project timescales, cost targets, and traceability requirements are met.
- Design and implement new production lines, facility layouts, and production tooling.
- Conduct Time & Motion studies and Value Stream Mapping for work cell and production line balancing.
- Create Routings on the Company ERP System, detailing process steps and standard times.
- Manage equipment maintenance scheduling to minimize production stoppages.
- Estimate costs, production times, and staffing requirements for new designs.
- Develop and maintain work instructions to ensure consistent standards.
- Actively target scrap, rework, and non-value-added activities using Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Conduct root cause analysis of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Work with Procurement and Production Support to improve material flow and reduce inventory.
- Investigate new techniques and equipment to ensure manufacturing philosophy incorporates current best practice.
- Support production to achieve on-time delivery of customer orders, addressing any issues that may arise.
What are we looking for in our next Manufacturing Engineer?
- Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline with significant manufacturing experience.
- Continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN, Six-Sigma, and TQM.
- Work measurement and standardization.
- Competency in ERP systems, including the development of routings and Bill of Material structures.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD drawing packages and competency in 2D CAD design.
- Strong data analysis abilities.
- Understanding of Engineering Change Control processes.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings, schematics, and other documentation.
