Brief

Mechanical Engineer needed on contract to join an established defence firm in the Reading area.

*Candidates will need either Current DV Clearance, or sole UK nationality to be eligible to obtain. *

What the role of the Mechanical Engineer entails:

Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Engineer will include:

• Providing robust design solutions that can be taken from conceptual design through to full working mechanical assemblies, meeting the project requirements.
• Ability to rapidly generate mechanical layouts / configurations to support bids and proposals, using a common set of components to meet the specific requirements.
• Collaboration with project managers to provide inputs to schedules; risk management plans; budget management and other project artefacts as required.
• Ability to work closely with and interpret the outputs of analysis engineers (FEA) to understand the capabilities of the design.
• Ability to interpret and create high quality mechanical drawings, taking into account GD&T.

What experience you need to be the successful Mechanical Engineer:

• Mechanical Engineering background is essential
• Experience with a CAD package for both modelling and drawing, ideally NX and Teamcenter.
• Experience working within the defence engineering sector
• Experience in a client-facing consultancy role - desirable
