The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Mechanical Engineer?

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks on all mechanical assets.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults to ensure maximum uptime of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct minor installations and proactive system monitoring to support operational optimisation.
  • Accurately complete job reports and maintenance records.
  • Perform routine inspections and fault finding on district heating and cooling systems.
  • Support condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of maintenance issues and effective close-out of all tickets.
  • Provide shift cover and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a consistent, professional service.
  • Assist at other sites when required and maintain current operational knowledge.
  • Work in line with statutory and company Health & Safety policies.
  • Apply and manage Permit to Work and lone-working procedures.
  • Participate in risk assessments and promote a culture of safe working practices.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
  • Report system issues in a timely manner and support escalation processes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and peers.

What are we looking for in our next Mechanical Engineer?

  • In-depth knowledge of district heating/cooling systems, including boilers, CHP, and chillers.
  • Experience in PPM and reactive maintenance in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Strong mechanical installation and maintenance capability.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
  • Clear, professional, and customer-focused communication.
