The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Mechanical Engineer?
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks on all mechanical assets.
- Diagnose and resolve faults to ensure maximum uptime of mechanical systems.
- Conduct minor installations and proactive system monitoring to support operational optimisation.
- Accurately complete job reports and maintenance records.
- Perform routine inspections and fault finding on district heating and cooling systems.
- Support condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Ensure prompt resolution of maintenance issues and effective close-out of all tickets.
- Provide shift cover and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a consistent, professional service.
- Assist at other sites when required and maintain current operational knowledge.
- Work in line with statutory and company Health & Safety policies.
- Apply and manage Permit to Work and lone-working procedures.
- Participate in risk assessments and promote a culture of safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
- Report system issues in a timely manner and support escalation processes.
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and peers.
What are we looking for in our next Mechanical Engineer?
- In-depth knowledge of district heating/cooling systems, including boilers, CHP, and chillers.
- Experience in PPM and reactive maintenance in commercial or industrial environments.
- Strong mechanical installation and maintenance capability.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Clear, professional, and customer-focused communication.
