Mechanical Engineer needed for a major defence organisation based in Wimborne who are looking to employ an experienced Mechanical Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of a variety of mechanical manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Engineer will include:
*Evaluating products by designing and conducting appropriate design, development, verification and validation methods.
*Applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics and materials etc.
*Using analytical techniques to design out potential design and process failures.
*Applying development life cycles to cascade customer requirements through to validated design.
*Supporting the development of products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
*Developing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.
*Assuring system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
*Preparing product reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information and trends.
*Providing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
*Maintaining product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
What you need to be the successful Mechanical Engineer:
In order to be the successful Mechanical Engineer and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:
*A minimum of BTEC qualified in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering or similar discipline.
*Experience working with a variety of mechanical manufacturing processes and assembly techniques including welding, brazing and high vacuum would be advantageous.
*Knowledge of radioactive materials would be advantageous.
*Experience working with detailed drawing packs.
*Experience designing jigs and fixtures.
*Knowledge of analytical simulation techniques such as FEA etc. would be advantageous.
*Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/A and Root Cause Analysis.
*Knowledge of full product and project life cycles.
*Recent 3D CAD experience.
Must be eligible for Security Clearance
