Brief
Network Management System Design Engineer needed for a well-known defence organisation based in Hampshire who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Network Management System Design Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of deploying, configuring and using common Network Monitoring Systems (NMS) such as Solarwinds, Nagios, PRTG, etc. including using Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP).
The successful candidate would desirably have good TCP/IP networking experience and understanding of enterprise equipment (including LB, VPN, Firewalls, etc and have a keen interest in Network Management System Design Engineering. If you have VMware experience, within a large-scale environment that would be a plus!
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Network Management System Design Engineer will include:
- Build and Deploy a new user facing Network Management System including monitoring of bespoke software/system components.
- Ensure network availability is kept above the SLA thresholds.
- Build Proactive response to alarms & monitor the network status.
- Document everything from network designs, troubleshooting manual and procedures to user guides according to engineering processes.
- Work with all the key stakeholders to ensure project tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
What experience you need to be the successful Network Management System Design Engineer:
- Experience deploying, configuring & using Network Monitoring Systems
- TCP/IP networking experience
- VMware experience
- vSphere knowledge
- SAN storage array
