We are on the lookout for a highly skilled and versatile Production Manager to join our industry renowned client, leading the manufacturing team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Job Role: Production Manager
Salary: £42,500-£52,500 DOE
Location: Poole, Dorset
Working hours: Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00
Key Responsibilities:
This role involves overseeing CNC, semi-CNC, and manual machining (lathes and mills), gear cutting, as well as managing the finishing department and plating operation.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor a skilled team. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Collaboration with Production Team: Work closely with the Production Planner, Production Engineer and Production Supervisor to develop and implement: Production schedules, optimise machining processes for efficiency and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules for CNC and manual machining, including gear cutting processes.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control measures across CNC, manual machining, and gear cutting processes. Conduct regular inspections and address any quality issues promptly with the help of the Quality Manager and Inspector.
- Process Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve production processes in collaboration with the Production Engineer. Identify and implement best practices to enhance overall productivity. Develop the new ERP solution and deliver even more process and efficiency benefits.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of CNC machines, manual machining equipment, gear cutting tools, and finishing tools. Coordinate with the Maintenance Engineer to address any equipment issues promptly.
- Inventory Management: Manage raw material and finished goods inventory levels. Implement inventory control measures to minimise waste and low stock situations.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations. Conduct regular safety training sessions and updates.
- XYZ Machines and Finishing Areas: Oversee the operation of XYZ machines, ensuring precision and efficiency. Coordinate activities in finishing areas, including deburring, polishing, and other post-machining processes.
- In-House Plating Unit: Manage the in-house plating unit, ensuring timely and high-quality plating of components. Collaborate with the plating team to maintain compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field desirable.
- Industry experience
- Proven experience in CNC and manual machining, gear cutting, and production management/supervision.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of CNC programming, manual machining processes, gear cutting techniques, and finishing.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
