A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor at their offices in Derby. The Quantity Surveyor will be joining the main contractors busy and growing power business, working on a variety of different projects for clients including National Grid, UK Power Networks and SSE. Your first project will be a £90m interconnector, linking the UK with mainland Europe which will provide sustainable electricity for 1.4 million homes within Great Britain.
The Quantity Surveyor will be working closely with a Senior QS, managing their own civils packages of work and taking them from procurement through to final account settlement. Some of your key duties will include:
- Subcontract management
- Procurement
- Cost reporting
- Preparation and administration of contracts
- Monitor payments from the clients and authorise to suppliers/sub-contractors
- Support the SQS & CM on other commercial duties across the project
- Provide commercial support to junior surveyors and the project team
Quantity Surveyors considering this opportunity will need to have previous experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities experience and a strong understanding of the NEC suite of contracts. You'll also need to have previously worked for a main contractor and happy to travel between projects in Kent, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
