I am recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading cost and project management consultancy with a strong presence across the UK. With offices in Leeds, Newcastle, and Sunderland, my client provides expert services across a range of sectors, including transport infrastructure. They are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team, working on significant projects with Network Rail and regional train operators across the North of the UK.
As a Quantity Surveyor within our clients busy commercial team, you will play a key role in delivering pre and post-contract commercial services for rail infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. You will have the flexibility to base yourself from their Leeds, Newcastle, or Sunderland offices, with the option to work from home, 2 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-contract duties including cost estimating, procurement, and contract negotiation.
- Manage post-contract activities such as valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Provide accurate cost management and forecasting to ensure project budgets are maintained.
- Collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and delivery.
- Prepare and present detailed reports to clients, advising on commercial risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards.
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their professional development.

Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the rail or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of pre and post-contract commercial duties.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar.
- Professional membership with RICS or CIOB is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
