Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £45,000 to £52,000 + car & excellent benefits package
I am looking for a talented and driven Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor on a landmark UK energy project in the North East. This is a rare chance to be part of a 'first-of-a-kind' project that is set to redefine the UK's energy landscape and create a lasting legacy for generations.
As a key member of the commercial team, the Quantity Surveyor will manage all costs and income streams across a key part of the project, ensuring the successful delivery of this nationally significant civil engineering project.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and optimising all commercial aspects of your project section using advanced ERP and digital systems.
- Undertaking detailed measurement, recording, and valuation of works in line with project procedures.
- Preparing meticulous cost reconciliation statements and collating cost and value information.
- Interpreting complex works information, specifications, and drawings to prepare accurate bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
- Building robust estimates from first principles.
- Overseeing the measurement of works and managing subcontractor agreements.
- Proactively planning commercial activities to align with and support section programmes of work.
- Developing a deep understanding of the main contract to effectively manage customer and stakeholder relationships.
- Assessing and understanding the commercial implications of delay and disruption programmes.
Essential Requirements:
- A proven track record in managing costs and commercial activities on large civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- A sound working knowledge of various forms of contract used for major civil engineering works.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of contract structures and documentation.
- The ability to use financial control procedures and accurately value variations.
- A strong understanding of construction programmes and the ability to analyse the implications of various options.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
