Brief
Senior Advisor needed to come on board and join a well-established highways organization. As a Senior Advisor, you will develop and implement policies, standards, operating procedures and best practices, and provide specialist technical advice and guidance; to support the development, renewal and maintenance of highway assets.
It's important for the successful Senior Advisor to be degree educated, member of a relevant professional institution, and be chartered or near chartership with a relevant professional institute (IHE, CIWEM, ICE or CIHT).
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Senior Advisor will include:
- Plan and manage project activities and resources, identifying risks and appropriate mitigation and reporting progress, to ensure delivery of project objectives to time and cost.
- Develop business or value management cases for new projects, to ensure that such projects are consistent with strategic goals.
- Document technical solutions and communicate to all stakeholders, to support implementation and to ensure the availability of audit evidence.
- Act as a source of specialist subject matter expertise; to provide appropriate advice and guidance to contractors and suppliers and support colleagues in resolving technical issues and in their personal development.
- Plan and manage own CPD to ensure continuing development of specialist skills and awareness and understanding of industry best practices.
What experience you need to be the successful Senior Advisor:
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (CEng, IEng, MICE, or IStructE) and/or a relevant degree and extensive relevant experience.
- Demonstrate efficiencies and demonstrate value for money across a programme of projects.
- Proven experience of providing information and specialist advice in a specific technical or expertise discipline.
- Ability to use a combination of general and specialist knowledge and understanding to optimize the solutions to complex technical issues involving significant levels of risk.
- Able to engage effectively with staff at all levels.
