Senior Electrical Engineer

  • Location: Wisconsin/ Boston HQ
  • REMOTE (With occasional site visits, fully expensed)
  • Start: ASAP
  • Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 GROSS PA

  • To produce full electrical design of gas-powered generation, CHP plants and Renewable Natural Gas projects, providing input and support at all stages of a project from sales through to installation.


Skills:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience of working in an associated industry with a background in power generation (between 1-25MW) or Renewable Natural Gas
  • Knowledge of low and of medium voltage power trains and associated control and instrumentation.
  • Good IT Skills -MS Office

Desirable

  • Professional registration.
  • Experience in CHP, Microgrid, Battery, Solar PV experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD drafting package or similar.


Responsibilities.

  • Translate and develop concepts into designs to meet the functional and contractual specifications of secured orders, developing and detailing specifications, producing calculations, and making component selection.
  • Support and assist in the sales stage of a project by taking responsibility for ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are provided to meet the timescales and quality standards required for presentation to the customer/potential customer.
  • Liaise with Mechanical Engineer in identifying the project requirements and on the development of the detailed design.
  • Liaise with CAD Designer, coordinating and leading activity to ensure that the design packages are produced to the required timescales and standards of quality.
  • Provide support to the Project Manager during the design, installation commissioning and testing phases of the project, ensuring the timely production of all necessary documentation.
  • Liaise as necessary with existing and potential customers and their representatives.
  • Participate, and where appropriate lead, HAZOP, and risk assessment studies.
  • Travel to customer sites for meetings & conduct surveys.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ensure that there is full adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management policies, and procedures in all work undertaken.


Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills
Good IT skills- Microsoft Office.
Current knowledge of the engineering design software available in the marketplace, (CAD, ETAP, SKM, or equivalent).
Project management.
Knowledge of AutoCAD drafting package

  • One line and three-line diagrams
  • Conducting arc-flash hazard calculations to determine arc-flash boundaries and required PPE
  • Protective relay and metering one line / three-line diagrams
  • AC/DC schematics
  • Panel Layouts
  • Equipment layouts and sectional views
  • Connection Diagrams
  • Cable Schedules
  • DC power distribution design
  • Developing construction and equipment specifications

* Grounding Analysis and Design
* MV/LV power distribution, substation, and advance switchgear design experience
* Aware on IEC, UL, NFPA Electrical standards.
