Senior Fire Safety Consultant
Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Location: Remote / Hybrid (office, client sites, and home working)
The Opportunity
Our client, a specialist engineering consultancy supporting high-profile projects across Critical National Infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Assessor Consultant to join their growing team.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering fire safety strategies across submarines, power stations, explosives facilities, and other safety-critical environments. You'll be leading on the development of fire engineering services, mentoring junior staff, and supporting a network of Fire Assessors and associates.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the delivery of fire strategies, fire risk assessments, and design-stage consultancy services.
- Contribute to the development of the business's Fire Engineering and Assessment offering, covering areas such as:
- DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations)
- Fire dynamics and compartmentation
- Evacuation modelling
- Passive and active fire protection solutions
Key Responsibilities
- Develop fire safety strategies, reports, technical notes, and sketches to ensure compliance with fire regulations.
- Lead or contribute to design reviews, identifying risks and proposing effective, practical solutions.
- Conduct fire engineering analysis, including smoke and evacuation modelling, temperature spread calculations, and structural assessments.
- Work with advanced computer modelling software to perform fire dynamics assessments and simulations.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and regulatory authorities to align fire safety measures with project requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Technologies, or related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, design teams, and regulators.
Desirable: Previous consultancy experience.
