Senior Quantity Surveyor needed for a leading UK main contractor based in Wigan who are looking to employ a well-rounded Quantity Surveyor. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an award-winning organisation or for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a step up in their career.

This role is a great opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take on the role as a commercial lead across a variety of interesting projects. The majority of these projects will be 2 stage design and build across the education and healthcare sectors. Within the role the opportunities for learning and growth are endless. The office will be based in Wigan however projects will aim to be based within an hour of Wigan.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating with the pre-construction team to oversee the commercial aspects of projects during the Pre-Construction Service agreement phases.
• Ensuring the prompt and regular submission of main contract payment requests and subsequent cash collection, along with the preparation of sub-contractor payments in strict accordance with specified payment terms.
• Assisting Contracts Managers in overseeing sub-contractor performance to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of all sub-contractor obligations outlined in the sub-contract.
• Collaborating with and executing reasonable directives from the Regional Director/Manager and the Commercial Manager (functional reporting).
• Taking responsibility for managing meetings.
• Holding line management responsibilities for members of the commercial team.
• Generating precise draft sub-contracts and/or endorsing drafts prepared by the Commercial Team within the Region.
• Ensuring the punctual submission of all necessary data for monitoring and analysing individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter.
• the timely submission of detailed claims and final accounts
• Engaging with Contracts Managers in the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts to guarantee the financial success of construction operations and keeping the Commercial Manager informed of significant developments.
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior staff in their professional development.
• Ensuring efficient communication with contracts management for the timely submission of all required notices and submissions according to various contract forms.
• Verifying that main contract payment requests include all necessary cost claims and ensuring
• Participation in dispute avoidance and resolution efforts.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
• Experience working on education and/or healthcare projects
• Experience of working on 2 stage tender processes from either a cost consultant or contractor background
• Confident in using JCT/NEC suite of contracts
• Commercially astute
• Ability to provide cost management to develop proposals during second stage of two stage tender processes
• Good communication skills
• Negotiation skills
• A general appreciation of design, tendering, and construction processes
• Analytical thinking
