Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) - Somerset - Exclusive Opportunity
I am looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to join a leading mechanical and electrical contractor on a high profile new-build infrastructure project in Somerset.
The is a rare opportunity to join a market leading name on a project that will have a significant impact on the UK's energy sector. Our client is a major delivery partner on the project and they are seeking a commercially astute professional to manage a number of critical M&E packages.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) on the project, you will be at the heart of a complex and challenging environment and tasked with supporting a large and busy team. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be the commercial lead for a portfolio of work on the project. Some of your key duties will include:
- Acting as the primary source of commercial and contractual advice for the project management team.
- Leading negotiations on major sub-contracts and amendments, ensuring favourable terms for our client.
- Driving the commercial strategy to maximise profitability, protect margins, and ensure a strong, consistent cash flow through meticulous management of the entire payment process.
- Taking full ownership of the administration of the NEC contract, managing all variations, claims, and final accounts to a successful conclusion.
- Proactively identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
What we're looking for:
To be considered for this opportunity, the Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) must be able to demonstrate:
- A proven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally for a large M&E contractor.
- Significant experience managing the commercial aspects of large-scale, complex engineering projects (values of £50m+).
- Deep expertise in administering NEC contracts is essential.
- A sharp, analytical mind with a talent for negotiation and risk management.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Experience in the nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated sectors would be a significant advantage.
