Senior Safety Engineer.
Witshire, Worcestershire, Surrey or Bristol
£45k - £55k negotiable + Benefits Package
Safety Engineer required by a growing ATM Specialist Team ideally with air traffic control safety and operational experience. In this Safety Engineer role there is a wide variety of ATM safety related projects such as wind farm operational impact projects; radar mitigation studies, airspace change and airspace planning & design. The team is ready to grow further to access a greater range of projects and opportunities and aim to be at the leading-edge of ATM consultancy, addressing the key challenges caused by the rapid increase in civilian air traffic, for both Commercial and Military air traffic.
* Act as Technical Lead on ATM safety engineering projects.
* To work as a member of a team on wider ATM related projects, including ATM safety engineering consultancy to military and civilian customers.
* To develop and grow business with existing clients.
* Actively participate in the management of the ATM team.
* Work with, and advise other technical subject matter experts (SMEs) across the company in responding to client requests.
Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required
This is a Safety Engineering role with experience of applying that discipline to ATM and across several areas within the company. A safety engineer that has worked in an Air Traffic Management organisation at a senior level either civil or military with a deep understanding of both the technical, safety and operational aspects of ATM would be great for this role.
A broad knowledge of technologies supporting ATM is essential coupled with an understanding of how they are, or can be used to provide safe ATM services.
Communications: VHF/UHF analogue/digital systems, HF systems, Satellite communications, Ground networks e.g. AFTN, CIDIN, ATN, IPv6, VoIP, Tactical Data Links, Concepts such as SWIM, PENS
Navigation: Conventional navigation systems e.g. GNSS, VOR, DME, ILS, MLS, NDB, Concepts such as PBN, RNP, RNAV
Surveillance : Primary and Secondary radar with emphasis on Mode S, ADS-B, ADS-C, WAM/MLAT
Knowledge of ATM technical standards as developed by ICAO, EUROCAE, EUROCONTROL, etc.
Experience of leading teams in an aviation environment.
