Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer required by a multinational Aerospace and Defence organisation, to be based in their London facility. The Senior Software Engineer will have an in-depth knowledge of development using C++, C# or .NET as a programming language. You will undertake a range of software development activities in line with relevant processes, under the direction of experienced engineers, within the Submarine Command System (SMCS) projects/programmes.

The successful Senior Software Engineer will ideally hold a relevant degree in a subject such as Software Engineering, demonstrate a genuine interest in software development as a whole with experience working in the defence industry being a real bonus.

Some of the main duties of the Senior Software Engineer will include:

• Analyse software requirements, create software design updates to support software implementation, ensuring that the overall system will behave according to its requirements
• Write software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying pragmatic solutions
• Write software test schedules and run them to test the system, demonstrating compliance with the requirements
• Document appropriate information, so that others can understand the software and the system.
• Contribute to process improvement within the team to ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works
• Liaise with other team members, teams and customers to ensure key information is understood

The required experience of the Senior Software Engineer is:

• Strong experience working in Software Development (real time)
• Structured Software Design experience using formal methods
• Familiar with programming frameworks such as Ada, C++, C# or .net
• Experience Software Integration & Testing
• Knowledge of COTS technologies e.g., Windows, VMWare
