Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum depending on experience + Benefits
Shift: 4 on, 4 off - 12 hour rotating shift (alternating days & nights)
Our client, a renewable energy firm, require an experienced Shift Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.
The Shift Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of two energy centres, including a biomass energy facility.
What the role of the Shift Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Shift Engineer will include:
- Operating biomass boilers and gas engines,
- Fuel handling via forklift,
- Water hygiene monitoring
- Submitting detailed shift logs.
The engineer is instrumental in maintaining plant uptime, supporting compliance, and delivering safe energy to site users.
What experience you need to be the successful Shift Engineer:
- Proven experience operating industrial biomass boilers, gas engines, and steam systems.
- Valid forklift truck licence with safe handling of biomass and general materials.
- Competence in plant monitoring systems (e.g., SCADA, HMI) and fault diagnosis.
- High level of personal responsibility during lone working or night shifts.
- Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and shift handovers.
- Proactive attitude toward plant performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
