Solar PV Technical Manager
Must be within a commutable location of Chesterfield
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Technical Manager to lead the technical delivery of our solar projects from design through to commissioning. This is a key leadership role, ensuring that all installations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical design and engineering of solar PV systems for commercial, and utility-scale projects.
- Conduct site audits, generate QC reports & snagging punch lists for installation teams.
- Experience of interpreting EPC contracts & specifications, ability to convert into electrical schematics, drawings and sub-contract work specifications.
- Author technical information for tender submissions. Create bill of quantities, rate cards and schematics from chosen design.
- Competent in cable sizing and AC network calculations.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and performance analysis.
- Liaise with project managers, clients, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Develop and maintain technical & handover documentation, including drawings, test certificates, compliance reports, and risk assessments.
- Assume Technical Nominee role for Electrical CPS scheme.
- Manage and mentor engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in solar PV.
Requirements
- Higher qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Proven experience in solar PV design, installation, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, grid connection requirements, and relevant regulations.
- City and Guilds 2391 inspection and testing qualification.
- CSCS electrical supervisor/manager card.
- Proficiency in PV design software (e.g., PV*Syst, AutoCAD) and MS Office.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience in utility battery storage construction and design.
- HV / Substation qualifications or design experience.
- City and Guilds 2396 Design qualification.
- SMSTS site management qualification.
