Technical Author required for a well-respected defence organisation based in the Salisbury area. In this varied role the Technical Author will desirably come from a defence background, have excellent knowledge of ERP tools containing electronic work instructions & associated interfacing systems/functions, to develop and assist with integrated work statements and sequencing of events to support schedule & delivery commitments.
As Technical Author you will be comfortable working within a regulated engineering environment, facilitating the creation, maintenance, receipt and delivery of multiple complex electronic work packages, manufacturing plans, NCR (non-conformance report) work instructions, & bespoke work instructions in support of production, modification & maintenance activities. You must be able to interpret multiple source formats of approved engineering data from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Design Organisation (DO), or Applicable Customer controlled Maintenance data sources in order to produce a standardised, easy to use & logical set of production/manufacturing plans with consideration of regulatory requirements for accurate maintenance recording.
Some of the main duties of the Technical Author will include:
Authors technical work instructions to approved process & regulatory requirements, writing, editing & proof reading text, collating & verifying technical /engineering information, creating and editing bespoke work instructions.
Maintains configuration control of plan sets, including engineering baseline establishment lists, manufacturing plans (master plans), associated aircraft specific plans (A/C work orders) and non-conformance report (NCR) work orders.
Develops, implements and maintains various manufacturing plans, Bill of Materials, work instructions and illustrations to define and document as-built configurations.
Develops & supports testing, surveys, trials etc. to support Statements Of Work (SOW) and business estimates.
Supports end to end processes for modification and design development & application activities
Provides input to design, manufacturing processes and production methods to meet efficiency, cost and schedule targets.
What experience you need to be the successful Technical Author:
Engineering degree or equivalent relevant experience
Knowledge of Military Airworthiness Authority (MAA) Regulatory Articles (RAs)
Extensive experience in either depth maintenance, repairs, mods & upgrades or experience in the use of ERP Tools to author electronic work instructions.
