Web Developer


Web Developer required to join a globally established defence company in the Wiltshire area. They are on the search for a Web Developer to join their team. The site currently provides a diverse range of products, services and capabilities for military and civilian domains. Some of these products include Computer Based Training programs and full mission simulators.

The Web Developer will have the following responsibilities:

- Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities

- Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment

- Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle

- Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software

- Corrects programme errors, prepares operating instructions, produces development documentation

- Analyses system capabilities to resolve questions of business intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls

- Ensures software standards are met

The Web Developer will need to have the following skillset and experience:

- Experience developing J2EE web application development (JSPs, HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript)

- Can utilise modern web technologies with (HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, AJAX) effectively to develop engaging and effective web user interfaces compatible with modern browsers

- Good knowledge of software engineering lifecycle models, design methods and their application

- Can apply the principals of object-oriented design

- Previous experience working on Java projects using established software standards, quality requirements and processes

- Understands UML diagrams and able to relate them to the codebase

- Understands design patterns and can use them appropriately

- Excellent communication skills and supports others to achieve the team's goals

- Can work as part of a distributed team

- Ability to respond positively to change, and thrive in a dynamic environment

- Strong desire to learn and improve

The Web Developer will need to be eligible for SC clearance!
