Brief
2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer needed for a leading defence engineering organisation based in Bedfordshire who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer that takes pride in their work.
The successful 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer would desirably be educated to degree level, or equivalent professional/vocational qualification.
Due to the nature of the clients work, this role will require candidates to undergo and obtain UK SC Clearance.
What the role of the 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the 2nd Line Desktop Engineer will include:
- Provide day-to-day delivery of technical support for end-users of client applications, VOIP telephones, smartphones, tablets, printers and computer hardware
- Resolve incidents & requests using Service Central whilst adhering to agreed SLAs where possible
- Assist with maintaining the asset tracking system when required
- Participate in project work as required such as software and hardware refresh programmes
- Deploy, maintain and support iOS devices
- Write, update and maintain written processes and procedures
- Travel to support other sites within the UK where required
What experience you need to be the successful 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer:
- Previous technical support experience
- Ability to demonstrate a customer first mentality
- In depth knowledge and experience of various Microsoft operating systems is essential
- Detailed knowledge of supporting the Microsoft Office suite
- Self-starter with willingness to learn from colleagues
- Experience of basic Active Directory administration
- Proven troubleshooting skills via phone, chat or remote desktop
- Must be a good team player and able to use own initiative
- Must have good problem determination and communication skills
- Dynamic and flexible "can-do" attitude
- Clean driving license & willingness to travel
- Experience of working in defence or central government industries would be advantageous
- Basic knowledge of ITIL framework - incident, problem & change management
- Knowledge of Service Now or other Service Desk systems
- Understanding of networking principles such as DHCP, DNS and network connectivity troubleshooting
- Proven Apple iOS support knowledge
