The role of the Data Analyst is to harness data to provide business insight. With a deep understanding of the data and the business context, you will apply tools and techniques for data analysis and visualisation to improve our understanding of the business. In turn this will inform better decisions while helping AGR to become more scalable and data-driven.

The specific job description of the Data Analyst:

The Data Analyst will:

Build high quality working relationships with colleagues in the trading teams and GST

• collaborate with colleagues in the TOD teams to provide great service
• proactively manage customers with clear communication and regular progress updates

Working with trading and GST colleagues, develop and maintain a deep understanding of the AGR data & analytics landscape, including

• Sources, storage, architecture
• Data elements, data dictionary, data models
• Accuracy, quality, completeness
• Systems, business and market context
• The flow of data through processes
• Reports and Power BI suites
• Project (improvement) workstreams

Working with trading and GST colleagues, analyse business problems and implement data & analytics solutions for AGR, including

• Gather requirements and undertake discovery activity
• Propose solution(s) to be implemented
• Clean and transform the data as necessary to perform analyses
• Perform analyses using the appropriate tools, ensuring transparency and repeatability
• Prototype as necessary in Excel or similar
• Provide business insights through analysis and assist stakeholders with the interpretation of analyses
• Design and build new, and evolve existing Power BI reports and dashboards in the production suite
• Train stakeholders in the use of the Power BI reports and dashboards as necessary to aid self sufficiency
• Ensure the data is fit for purpose (considering accuracy, completeness, consistency and other relevant factors)
• Identify areas where data can better be used to benefit AGR
• Identify where improved data quality and consistency will benefit AGR

The Data Analyst will need:

• Understands how business is done in the Lloyd's and London Market
• Understands Lloyd's and London Market insurance data and is comfortable analysing it
• Advanced analytical training (mathematics, engineering or similar degree preferred)
• Building enterprise standard interactive reports and visualisations with Power BI
• Management of workspaces, databases and data models in Power BI
• Proficiency with Power Query, T-SQL, DAX, Python and similar tools also desirable
