Field Support Engineer
Portsmouth - 50/50 split between working onsite in Portsmouth, and travelling to various customer sites nationally & internationally on occasion.
£38,000 - £41,000 + Benefits:14% pension, 25 days holiday, free shares and more!
You will be providing support to the Combat Management System for a number of Royal Naval ships including the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carries, Type 45 Destroyers, Type 23 Frigates and LPD platforms. You will have the chance to work with some of the latest technologies and shared infrastructure across a range of different platforms.
NOTE: There will be travel involved to various end-customer sites nationwide. You will be reimbursed and able to expense this travel, whilst also receiving an on-ship 'allowance' for your time.
What the role of the Field Support Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Field Support Engineer will include:
- Supporting Operational Defects and system issues in a timely manner through ship visits
- Provision of technical support via email/phone for the in service Combat Management System (CMS) and Shared Infrastructure (SI) product lines
- Configuring CMS and SI hardware/software in preparation for supporting Ship installations and commissioning across all supported RN platforms
- Diagnosing and repairing defective hardware to maintain stock levels
What experience you need to be the successful Field Support Engineer:
Essential:
- Engineers should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications
- Understanding and experience in COTS (commercial off-the shelf) hardware/software, preferably with Shared Infrastructure and PC technology
- Willing to travel to support tasks in UK and abroad
Desirable:
- Expertise in engineering or defence related industry
- Familiarity within a Naval Combat Systems Environment, ideally CMS or SI
