Head of Shafts - Major Infrastructure Project
Location: Acton, London
Salary: £100,000 + Competitive Benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Shafts to take on a leading role on one of the UK's most rewarding infrastructure projects. The Head of Shafts will oversee the delivery of complex subterranean works including shaft sinking and the connections of various tunnels across the project. This would be an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager or Contracts Manager with previous tunnelling experience to take a significant step forward in their career.
As the Head of Shafts, You will provide strategic leadership for eight individual shaft assets across this high profile project. This is a high-impact position where you will lead a multidisciplinary team of Project Managers through the entire lifecycle-from design development to final handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the strategy for all shaft works.
- Manage and motivate a team of Project Managers and multidisciplinary staff.
- Drive a culture of safety and quality, embedding lessons learned into every phase.
- Build collaborative relationships to resolve challenges in a complex environment.
About You
- Proven experience in major infrastructure, specifically tunnelling and shaft sinking.
- A relentless commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
- The ability to lead multiple assets and teams under pressure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
