Brief
HGV Highways Operative needed to join a leading highways service provider on their contract in Cheshire. As an HGV Highways Operative, you will be involved in the delivery of both planned and reactive works and be required to ensure these works are carried out safely and in a timely manner. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the highways and other tasks as given by your team lead.
It's essential for the successful HGV Highways Operative to hold their Class 2 HGV licence and be confident in undertaking the works.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the HGV Highways Operative will include:
- The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day safety of both themselves and that of the operatives and supply chain within their team.
- To ensure all health, safety and quality requirements are met.
- Ensure you are engaged in the daily on-site risk assessment and are aware of health & safety issues identified and the controls that are in place.
- Ensure you are aware of, have access to and are adhering to company policies, procedures, risk assessments and method statements for the works you are undertaking.
- Following your gangers daily briefings (5 minute briefing with the supervisor) ensure the relevant information is cascaded to you and that you are aware of the job details/key aspects of work/ plant requirements for the day.
- Carry out planned works as per your ganger's instruction.
- Ensure the correct use of handheld devices you are required to use and that you are suitably qualified.
What experience you need to be the successful HGV Highways Operative:
- Class 2 HGV licence as well as a Full UK Driving licence
- City and Guild Highways qualifications
- NRSWA accreditation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience in the maintenance of highways.
