Maritime Systems Safety Engineer

Salary dependant on experience (£45,000 - £65,000 + Benefits)
This position offers the opportunity to work with a supplier to the Government defence departments that has been relied upon by the MOD for over 20 years. The business offers an extensive range of specialist services to clients in both public and private sectors which has created this opportunity to work within a dedicated Naval Safety Assurance Group.
Successful candidates will work with clients to provide Safety Engineering support throughout the lifecycle of systems, from the early concept stages through to disposal. The majority of work is focused on providing assurances that the defence systems are safe to introduce into and remain in service, in line with strict regulatory and legal requirements.
This role will span a variety of defence projects such as weapons, maritime and land & air domains, ranging from small equipment items through to large and complex systems and platforms.
Requirements
* Safety Management Strategy
* Technical Assurance and Maturity Assessment of the Maritime CADMID cycle
- Design Substantiation
- Hazard Identification and Analysis (HAZOP, SWIFT, FMEA)
- Hazard Log Management
* Safety Case development and management within the Maritime environment
- Risk Management / ALARP Assessment
- Safety Argument Structuring, e.g. Goal Structuring Notation (GSN)
- Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Derivation and Assessment / Software Safety Assessment especially within the Combat System.
- Design Substantiation
* Independent Safety Audit
* Regulatory Interface and Support eg DSA 02-DMR, JSP 430, JSP538, JSP518.
