Mechanical Design Leader

£60,000 - £80,000 + excellent benefits package.
Due to the nature of the work candidates will be required to undergo background screening to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting. This is typically a UK Passport holder that has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years.
This role is for a Mecahnical Design Leader to work within a consultancy environment where customers come to you and your team for help with solving some technical and complex problems.

We now have an opportunity available for a Mechanical Design Leader, to join a well established and growing team containing an exciting mix of professionals. This team is motivated by being an innovative, future thinking and collaborative, whilst building on their strong foundation of engineering and design principles.
The work involved is varied and challenging, from developing UAVs to specialist aerospace tools and marine engineering, medical devices, future energy storage concepts, new forms of personal protective equipment, asset management of process machinery, the list goes on.
The focus is to understand and empathise with clients and their customers to apply and develop the right techniques and technology to solve their problems, making a cleaner safer world.
Applying your proven Mechanical design skills to large, small and complex projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. You will be involved in all stages of the design process, mixing your application of technical and interpersonal skills on projects from concept stage right through to manufacturing.
In this role you will also be responsible for the leadership of the team, providing mentoring and line management, as well as owning the strategy.
Expected Requirements:
- Be naturally enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable in the field of Mechanical and Product Design
- Experienced in the application of design techniques, processes and best practice.
- Consultancy experience and understanding of the importance of strong client relationships.
- Understand the needs of providing Design Services to new and existing customers.
- Evidence of providing and showing Leader competencies.
- Experience of managing people and teams of engineers.
