Network Operations Manager

(Permanent - Hybrid)

Network Operations Manager needed for a well-established full-fibre broadband provider based out of their head office in London. My clients are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic individuals to join their team. The chosen Newtwork Operations Manager will have the responsibility for the Network Operations team that perform the operational monitoring and maintenance of the network, including the NOC team providing a 1st / 2nd line response to network monitoring and alerting systems. They will also have responsibility for the build and configuration of access equipment in new areas i.e. the passive optical network (PON) active components, outside plant in street cabinets (aggregation / OLT).

The key responsibilities of the Network Operations Manager:

For this role in particular the Network Operations Manager will:

  • Manage and resolve issues escalated into the team from the Customer Care team.
  • Management of the Network Operations Centre, ensuring the NOC team monitor and react to network events aligned to service SLAs.
  • Take an incident management role in the resolution of service impacting incidents and MSOs.
  • Develop processes and procedures to maximise network uptime and minimise service disruption. Proactively resolve issues which may impact customer service or network performance.
  • Develop active network build/commissioning roadmaps according to new area build priority.
  • Collaborate with other teams to accept new builds and products in to live service.
  • Plan, prioritise, report on, steer and contribute to build / deployment / configuration of access aggregation network & outside plant infrastructure.
  • Provide day to day line management of the team, steering and prioritising workload according to business needs. (Kanban / Jira / Trello).
  • Maintain technical standards set by Architecture function and drive conformance in relation to design, software versions, Internet standards, build standards and resiliency.
  • KPI reporting (network build / network performance) to the Senior Leadership Team

The required qualifications of the Network Operations Manager:

Specifically, the Network Operations Manager will need:

  • 5+ years with ISP Networks
  • Experience in leading a Network Engineering or NOC team
  • Experience of network monitoring and management systems
  • ITIL certified or equivalent experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of multiple network technologies (e.g IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, MPLS VPN, BNG, IPv4/IPv6, CGNAT) (desirable)
  • Understanding of Linux (desirable)
  • Experience of coding / scripting / API (desirable)
  • Experience of XGS-PON (desirable)
