The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Operations Planning Manager?

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to generate intelligent, data-driven operational insights.
  • Develop and maintain a consolidated, dynamic schedule for manufacturing and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery of work.
  • Own and evolve our operational information systems, leveraging ERP and spreadsheet data to model demand, capacity, and delivery timelines.
  • Proactively highlight risks, capacity pinch-points, and improvement opportunities.
  • Take decisive, data-led action to resolve conflicts and optimise scheduling performance.
  • Continuously improve scheduling processes as we increase reliance on external testing facilities.

What are we looking for in our next Operations Planning Manager?

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills - a confident cross-functional relationship builder.
  • Strong analytical skills - capable of translating complex data into clear, actionable insights and reports.
  • High data literacy - expert in Excel and proficient in managing structured operational data.
  • Experience using ERP systems (ideally IFS) for data extraction, operational reporting, and analysis.
  • Proven ability to bring structure and clarity to complex scheduling and planning challenges.
  • Experience in production planning, operations scheduling, or programme coordination in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with dashboarding tools (e.g., PowerBI).
  • Exposure to planning and scheduling in a technical setting.
  • Knowledge of IFS ERP system.
