Brief
Procurement Officer needed for a leading defence and security company based in the Newport area who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Procurement Officer that takes pride in their work with experience with MRP systems and a knowledge of procurement operation with a background in the defence industry.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Procurement Officer:
- Executing the sourcing process based on the Category Strategy, production volumes and unique project requirements
- Managing supplier performance and relationships to ensure delivery, quality, financial stability, and in-service performance, reporting upon Key Performance Indicators to identify and monitor allocated supplier performance
- Identifying, Reporting and Mitigating Category and Supplier Risks
- Optimising execution of the supply chain, balancing inventory, supply orders and schedule demand.
- Working on current contracts, supporting new bids, negotiating pricing and contracting terms and conditions
- Understand and interpret engineering requirements, ensuring those requirements are understood and reflected throughout the procurement lifecycle.

What experience you need to be the successful Procurement Officer:
- Experience of using an MRP System
- Good business understanding and commercial awareness to ensure essential information is obtained and reported correctly
- Able to negotiate tactically both with suppliers and internally at an operational level
- Able to discuss details involving category area including technical information
