Project Engineer
- Location: Kent (full-time on site) Near Lydd

Rate: £51.89 per hour (Umbrella)
- Notice Period: 4 weeks
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme on a full-time, site-based basis in Kent. This is a long-term contract opportunity within a highly regulated environment, supporting complex engineering projects from concept through to completion.
Due to the nature of the work, UK citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support end-to-end project engineering activities across complex programmes
- Identify project requirements and stakeholder needs
- Contribute to Project Execution Plans, including design, safety case, and commissioning strategies
- Support optioneering and concept design development
- Produce and approve technical specifications and engineering documentation
- Manage and oversee detailed design activities in line with design authority standards
- Act as a Responsible Engineer where required, including preparation of modification proposals
- Review and approve contractor documentation (method statements, risk assessments, work instructions)
- Provide technical supervision during construction, installation, commissioning, or decommissioning
- Ensure configuration control and compliance throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage project handover, ensuring all documentation, training, and drawings are complete
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Project Engineer role within a highly-regulated or industrial environment
- Background in mechanical or electrical engineering on complex plant or infrastructure projects
- Experience delivering complex engineering projects
- Strong understanding of engineering standards and compliance requirements
- Ability to manage technical documentation and project records to a high standard
- Experience reviewing contractor deliverables and ensuring quality assurance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated sectors
- Knowledge of commissioning and decommissioning processes
- Strong document control and quality assurance mindset
Additional Requirements
- UK Citizenship is essential
- Ability to work full-time on site (no hybrid working)
- Willingness to complete required site compliance checks, including:
- Security clearance (BPSS)
- Drugs & alcohol testing
- DBS check
- Completion of required site safety training prior to start
