Brief
Senior Buyer needed for a leading defence engineering organisation based in Glasgow who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Senior Buyer that takes pride in their work.
In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that require you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.
The successful Senior Buyer would desirably be educated to degree level, or equivalent professional/vocational qualification. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for a range of procurement tasks supporting the site and infrastructure requirements. Adherence to appropriate governance processes will also be a key component of the role.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in major projects from cradle to grave, providing infrastructure to manufacture the most advanced defence ships in the world. What the role of the Senior Buyer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Senior Buyer will include:
- Conduct formal Request for Quotation (RFQ) / Tender process in support of Naval Ships Capital, Revenue and Facilities Management programmes
- Conduct supplier negotiations
- Conduct supplier performance reviews ensuring that contractual obligations are delivered
- Processing of purchase requisitions (Coupa system) ensuring compliance with IPS procedures
- Support the deployment of appropriate payment processes within the supply base
- Maintain integrity of relevant information databases
What experience you need to be the successful Senior Buyer:
- Previous procurement & supply chain experience as a buyer, preferably within the area of Facilities Management and Capital/Construction procurement
- Demonstrable track record of management of the RFx/tender process
- Sound knowledge and understanding of contractual terms and conditions and their application
- Previous experience in the use of e-Sourcing toolsets (for example Coupa, Exostar)
- CIPS qualification preferred (not essential)
