Some of the main duties of the Senior Development Scientist with Optics and Opto-Mechanics experience experience will include:
- Provide mathematical, physics and system knowledge to develop optical instrumentation and hardware, in particular pertaining to lasers and diffractive optics
- Be able to create algorithms to explore new opportunities in generating more insight from existing data
- To design experiments to explore research and improvement exercises and be able to process and distribute the findings to a broad audience
- Produce efficient experiments to answer customer and development problems and be able to process and distribute the findings to a broad audience
In order to be the successful Senior Development Scientist with Optics and Opto-Mechanics experience and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:
- Graduate Physicist, Optical, Mechanical, Chemist, Chemical Engineer, Mathematician or equivalent
- Proficiency within physics leading to general optics in lasers/diffraction systems
- Highly numerate with strong programming skills and algorithm development
- Experienced in mathematical modelling of physical problems and algorithm development
- Knowledge of optical system design and use of Zemax
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, including software, systems and electronics
Nice To haves
- Mathematical modelling of complex systems using MATLAB or similar
- Knowledgeable of Lean Design or Six Sigma tools
