Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with previous heavy civil engineering experience to join a leading main contractor at their offices near to Watford. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will undertake an important role within the team, managing a portfolio of works as part of a much larger, high profile and high value heavy civils project.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the full life cycle of projects from contract administration and subcontract management through to managing change and developing junior members of the commercial team. Some of your main responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring the efficient management of all commercial function on your packages of work
• Ensuring compliance with commercial requirements of the contract
• Negotiating T&C's with subcontractors and suppliers
• Review, approve and ensure payment of interim and final accounts
• Ensuring costs/value are collected and reported as required
• Preparation of interim applications and payments
• Taking responsibility for the notification of early warnings, compensation events and submission of quotations as per the contract
• Identify and implement risk mitigation measures
• Support the Project Lead and Commercial Leadership team where possible

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Previous experience of working on a large civil engineering project
• A sound understanding of the NEC contract
• Excellent communication skills
