Senior Safety Engineer / Manager.
£55,000 - £65,000 + Benefits.
N/West / Liverpool / Chester area.
SC Clearance required - UK Passport and UK residency needed.
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Defence Safety Engineer that would like to be the focal point within a company that designs and manufactures Safety equipment across a range of industries.
This role would give you autonomy over the Safety Management processes used (within legislation and reg's of course) and allow you to run the Safety Engineering your way, reporting to the Engineering Director.
Role and Responsibilities:
Defining and maintaining a Product Safety culture across all business areas, promoting the understanding that safety decisions have to underwrite the company's obligations and meet the requirements of UK Health and Safety legislation
Providing technical leadership and direction with respect to Product Safety programmes on multiple defence projects
Implementation, co-ordination and conduct of programme Product Safety in accordance with company procedures and external standards and regulations (e.g. MAA) in a rigorous and effective manner
Reviewing and approving flight certification documentation in relation to Product Safety
Supporting and leading safety audits, both internally and externally
Developing a safety competence framework and developing and delivering supporting training material
Review and approve Product Safety documentation and oversee safety assessment activities including facilitation of Product Safety related activities such as HAZID workshops
Providing Product Safety support and expertise to new business proposals as required
Managing Product Safety contractors including defining requirements, provision of support during contract, reviewing technical outputs, etc.
Representing the company at both Senior level Customer and external audit review meetings
Reviewing and accepting Engineering Change Requests for their impact on Product Safety
Providing technical leadership and direction of Product Safety investigations
Preparing engineering resource budget estimates for Product Safety activities
Comply with legislative requirements and Company and department procedures
Managing interfaces with other key technical areas including environmental, quality and design.
Leading and mentoring the Product Safety Engineering function for all Product Safety related matters
