Brief

Systems Administrator needed for a multinational defence and security organisation based in Gloucestershire who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Systems Administrator to join a team of Senior Systems Administrators and Helpdesk Engineers. Working closely with colleagues, and end-users to ensure the solution meets business requirements and is delivered in a timely manner.

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Systems Administrator will include:

  • Working closely with colleagues, and end-users to ensure the solution meets business requirements and is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions to end user requests or problems submitted by phone, email, or chat.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions to software and hardware faults.
  • Perform systems, network and application administration and support functions.
  • Participate in and lead IT projects spanning multiple sites.
  • Provide tier II/III technical support.
  • Triage and assign advanced problems or requests to the proper channels.
  • Perform post solution follow up to ensure end user satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities and/or aptitude with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems

What experience you need to be the successful Systems Administrator:

  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server administration experience.
  • Windows Security Policy and Group Policy experience.
  • Proven experience installing, maintaining, and supporting hardware and software in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Network administration and/or support experience.
  • VMware administration experience.
  • Storage Area Network (SAN) administration experience.
  • Working Knowledge of:
    • Hyper-V, Firewalls, Network switches (including Cisco, Layer 3 routing and sub-netting), Exchange, Backup technologies, SAN technology, VoIP.
  • Experience with certifying compliance and auditing the security aspects of various operating systems within Windows.
  • Experience with M365 administration
  • Experience with certifying compliance and auditing the security aspects of various operating systems within Windows.
  • Experience with development and delivery of Information Assurance (IA) related briefings and training material.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange and the Microsoft Office product suite.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint intranet administration.
  • Cisco switching, routing, ASA firewalls and VPN experience.
  • Video conferencing and VoIP phone system administration.
